There are few things more wonderful than making a house into a home. We bought our old New England cape a few years ago, and we’ve put a lot of elbow grease & creativity into loving it’s quirks – including a gut job on the girls’ bathroom last year that you can read about here.
I tend to favor classic, coastal, casual pieces, and I’ve found some amazing deals recently – so I’ve rounded up some of my recent finds and favorites for you today! Keep reading to find all the good stuff – and click on any link to shop!
Hanging Swing Chair – Pretty Hand Soap – Recipe Box – Michelangelo Book – Picasso Book – Persian Runner Rug – Decorative Wooden Beads – Fringe Throw Blanket – Textured Vase – Architectural Framed Print – Set of 2 Crossback Dining Chairs
Red Persian Runner – $15! I snagged this on sale on President’s Day for 12 bucks and I’m so glad I did – it’s really spiced up my all neutral kitchen and adds a bit of plushness underfoot. It also has a non-slip grip on the underside, so you won’t be sliding around on tile or wood floors.
Y’all, this Michelangelo Coffee Table Book!!! I got it for $1, yes, $1 in the used book sale section of my local library (check yours!) and fell in love. The cover is beautiful and textured, it’s in excellent condition, has detailed photos of Michelangelo’s famous works. It’s a nice daily reminder of our trip to Italy last fall, when we saw many of these incredible pieces in person. When I was putting this post together, I searched for other Michelangelo coffee table books that would give the same effect – when I found it. The same book, circa 1953, selling new on Amazon from independent sellers for a whopping $657! When I tell you, I GASPED. I’m linking to the original, so you can see for yourself (and if you love it, you can grab it, or the much more affordable used options for sale on Amazon), as well as a few other similar books: Picasso and the Art of Drawing and Michelangelo: Divine Draftsman and Designer
I found the sweetest little bamboo papasan chair for the girls’ playroom at Homegoods last week, but I haven’t found a lot of other affordable options online – until I saw this Hanging swing seat for kids on Amazon. How fun would this be for a porch, playroom, or kids bedroom?! And the best part – it’s only $30!
Speaking of chairs, I get asked all the time about our Crossback Dining Chairs set of two – and they are finally back in stock! The set of two is under $200, and they are even prettier in person! I also saw our Fringe Throw Blanket restocked – it looks JUST like a Serena and Lily throw that retails for hundreds of dollars. I love it for the warmer months because it adds a pretty pop of texture and color without being too heavy.
A few more decorative cuties: this blue-gray Ceramic Textured Vase is just so beautiful. I’m trying to find a place for this Gorgeous Arch Framed Print before it sells out, and no one can have too many Decorative Wood Beads to be used for shelf styling (drape them over books, or hang on a pretty lamp or vase).
In the kitchen, I’ve really been loving our Black and gold recipe box – a recipe box is such a special family heirloom, and writing out recipes has a nostalgic, slow-living feel to it. These come in tons of pretty prints ala Rifle Paper Company, but we have the black and gold and I love the bold look all year round. I’ve also been obsessed with Newport Home Essential Oil Hand Soap. I first discovered these at Costco, and they are available at World Market, too, but I’ve begun ordering from Amazon because Costco and WM are both a long drive from me. This variety set has best-selling rosemary mint, sweet orange and creamy coconut – and every scent is even more delicious than the last.
I hope you grab a couple of these cuties to freshen up your space for spring! Cheers!
